7 DC Heroes You Forgot Were Part of the Arrowverse

The Arrowverse doesn’t try to hide its biases. There are characters that it likes and wants to give plenty of attention to, and ones that it doesn’t. Of course, Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, gets the most preferential treatment. Giving him the best material makes sense, as he’s the godfather of the entire universe. However, it still feels like he’s running the show once he’s gone, with The Flash having to take time out of his busy seasons to grieve his good friend and flat-out bring him back for one last mission. If The Flash can’t even focus on himself, it’s hard to imagine other heroes faring much better.

The Arrowverse introduces dozens of superheroes during its run, and while they don’t all make a major impact like Green Arrow and The Flash, it’s easy to remember a good chunk of them. Unfortunately, at least a handful get the short end of the stick. Here are seven DC heroes you forgot were part of the Arrowverse.

7) Ryan Choi

Ryan Choi in the Arrowverse.

During the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event, the Arrowverse’s heroes have to search for the seven Paragons that will lead the fight against the Anti-Monitor. Most of them are familiar faces, such as Batwoman, Brandon Routh’s Superman, and The Flash. There is one newcomer, though, Ryan Choi, who becomes the Atom in the comics. Ryan uses his big brain to help save the multiverse, but he doesn’t get a major arc in the Arrowverse, only becoming a hero in an alternate timeline.

6) Wildcat

J.R. Ramirez as Ted Grant aka Wildcat in Arrow

Green Arrow might be Star City’s most famous vigilante, but he’s not the first. Ted Grant, aka Wildcat, protects the Glades before giving up the hero life to run his gym. Despite being an afterthought in the Arrowverse, Wildcat may have a future in James Gunn’s DC Universe, as he appears in a mural in Superman.

5) Accelerated Man

The multiverse is full of dangerous speedsters, such as Reverse-Flash, Zoom, and Savitar. Fortunately, there’s at least one like The Flash who just wants to help: Accelerated Man. Working with Gypsy to round up dangerous universe hoppers, his appearance does most of the talking. At least the comics give him a bit more to do, having him attend a meeting of Flashes from all over the multiverse when Earth-Prime’s Scarlet Speedster screws up.

4) Hawkman

Hawkman.

Hawkgirl is getting her moment in the DCU, fighting alongside the Justice Gang in Superman. There’s no sign of her usual partner-in-crime, Hawkman, with whom she spends a decent chunk of time in the Arrowverse. The duo has to run from Vandal Savage in Legends of Tomorrow Season 1, but they don’t get anything to do after that. The crew of the Waverider continues to have wacky adventures without them.

3) The Ray

The Ray isn’t a household name, appearing in the background of a few major DC Comics stories. His time in the Arrowverse is a bit more rewarding, as he plays a crucial role in the “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover, even striking up a relationship with his world’s version of Captain Cold. The Ray also shows up for a brief moment in “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” still fighting the good fight on Earth-X.

2) Miss Martian

It’s hard to forget about the Arrowverse’s version of Martian Manhunter because he’s a key member of Team Supergirl. He’s not the only martian on the show, though, as M’gann M’orzz also shows up and falls in love with the D.E.O. officer. Sadly, their relationship doesn’t work out, and Miss Martian ends up as nothing more than a footnote inย Supergirl‘s story after she decides to leave Earth behind.

1) Batman

Green Arrow fills in the Batman role in the Arrowverse, building a team full of other vigilantes and taking to the streets of Star City at night to fight crime. But Bruce Wayne does exist on Earth-One, leaving Gotham City behind after killing the Joker. Tommy Elliot assumes his old friend’s appearance at one point, revealing what the Arrowverse’s version of Batman looks like. That’s good enough for a spot on this list.

The Arrowverse shows are streaming on Netflix.
