Marvel Confirms Early Premiere for VisionQuest, And It’s the Change Disney+ Needs

MCU live-action TV shows seem to have slowed down in recent years, but that certainly hasn’t meant any less excitement over VisionQuest. The upcoming series, as the title hints, is focused on the former Avenger, Vision, following everything that happened in Westview in WandaVisionโ€”namely, a version of him being created by Wanda in the Hex and another version of him existing in White Vision, with the latter ultimately getting the original Vision’s memories and flying away. With that very complicated backdrop, Vision is now trying to sort out his identity, all with the help, surprisingly, of the titular antagonist from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Added to the mix is Wanda and Vision’s son, Tommy, which means that this show, which is said to conclude the Wanda trilogy of shows, is sure to be complicated and full of reveals and turns.

Perhaps because of all of that, fans have been more than eager to finally see what this series has in store (with many still holding out hope that it will see the return of Wanda Maximoff, although that seems dubious at best). Now, Disney has given fans who are anxiously awaiting the release of the show something to celebrate, as the premiere date for the series has just been bumped up one day from October 14 to tomorrow, October 13. Along with this news came the confirmation of the titles for each of the show’s eight episodes, which may also contain some major hints. While unexpected, particularly when it comes to the earlier release, this update seems like very clear good news for the show, the fans, and the MCU.

VisionQuest’s Release Date Change Is a Positive Sign

Moving the release date for VisionQuest up isn’t necessarily unprecedented for Disney. In fact, even in the Star Wars franchise, that has happened for shows like Ahsoka. Yet, this does suggest that Disney is feeling particularly confident about the future success of the show, which makes sense given that the early reactions to the series were overwhelmingly positive. Perhaps the House of Mouse wants to keep that energy going with an earlier release, trusting that audiences will largely respond in kind. Given that there have certainly been concerns of late about the trajectory of the MCU, both that reception and the seeming confidence from Disney seem like great news for the broader franchise. Hopefully, both the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday have given the series and the overall MCU a boost.

The episode titles are also intriguing. For one, the show is definitely leaning into the AI concept overall, as each title plays to that idea in some way. The first two episodes are also exciting callbacks, as “No Strings” refers to Ultron saying he had no strings on him in Age of Ultron, and “Theseus” is a reference to the White Vision and the Hex Vision using the ship of Theseus to try and understand who the ‘real’ Vision was. With both of these, we can get a sense of where the series will start out. Perhaps most curious is the finale title, “Forever/End,” with “Forever” in particular being interesting. For now, the meaning remains to be seen, but there’s clearly plenty to be excited about when it comes to this show.
