The 2000s were a great time for television. A shift in the TV landscape sparked the Second Golden Age of Television and Prestige TV, a period that saw more complex, long-form storytelling brought to the small screen and gave rise to some of the best dramas in recent memory. TV viewers of the decade eagerly grabbed their remotes to watch hit dramas like The Sopranos, Lost, Greyโs Anatomy, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men. While the streaming era has brought many of those outstanding cable and network series to their libraries, allowing new generations to rediscover them, one of the best dramas of the 2000s has remained absent on major streaming services โ until now.

In 2006, TV viewers were introduced to Coach Taylor and his Panthers high school football team when Friday Night Lights debuted in NBC. One of the most beloved TV series from the decade, all five seasons of Friday Night Lights started streaming on Prime Video on September 1st, marking the first time in a while that the series has been features on a major streaming platform. Most recently, it had only been available to purchase online. Created by Peter Berg and inspired by H.G. Why You Should Watch Friday Night Lights
You donโt need to be a football fan to be drawn into Friday Night Lightsโ gripping and emotional storylines. Amid a backdrop of high school football, the series paints a picture of authentic small-town life and the cast of characters who live there, including their personal struggles, relationships, and growth and the difficult social issues they and the town face.
