As Lita, she made a name for herself in the WWE as one of the most risktaking women performers ever. Alongside Matt and Jeff Hardy, they were known as Team Xtreme and became extremely (pun intended) over with the fans with their high risk maneuvers and heavy metal looks.
Dumas is also a four-time WWE Women’s Champion and at one point, the most popular Diva in the company and the face of the Women’s Division. She’s also wrestled in independent promotions before signing with the WWE in 1999 as Miss Congeniality in ECW.
Her feud with Trish Stratus for the WWE Women’s Championship is one of the longest running rivalries of the past generation, with bouts with Mickie James also being some of her most famous matches.
On November 20th, 2006, Dumas announced she would be retiring from professional wrestling at Survivor Series, win or lose. As it happened, she lost to Mickie James and the Women’s Title. Dumas made other appearances as Lita throughout the years, even serving as one of the trainers for the sixth season of Tough Enough, alongside fellow Hall of Famer Booker T and Billy Gunn.
Currently, Dumas plays with her band The Luchagors and looks after animals through her charity ADORE–Amy Dumas Operation Rescue and Education.
She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 by former rival, Trish Stratus. At WrestleMania this year, she debuted the new WWE Women’s Championship belt.
Happy birthday, Lita!
