Mike Colter is out and about promoting the Ridley Scott-produced Halo: Nightfall, which he stars in as Jameson Locke. But it is his upcoming role as Luke Cage in Netflix's AKA Jessica Jones that has people interested, so The List asked him a few questions about it.

First, they wanted to know if the attention he has received for his performance in Halo: Nightfall led to him nabbing the coveted role of Luke Cage. "It couldn't have hurt," Colter replied. "And I really wanted the opportunity to do another physical role as there are only so many years you can do this kind of stuff."

Colter's Luke Cage will first appear in 6 or 7 episodes of AKA Jessica Jones and then he'll have his own standalone series on Netflix. What we didn't know until now was if Luke Cage would have his super-strength and impervious skin in AKA Jessica Jones or if they would wait until his solo project to introduce that element. "We're in the middle of shooting AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage is a very interesting character who just happens to have super strength and unbreakable skin," Colter revealed. "He's a neighbourhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones. It's all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor. He likes to keep things close to his chest, operate on the hush-hush. He has these abilities but he's not sure how and when to use them. He's a very nuanced character."

In the comics, Luke Cage is convicted of a crime he didn't commit. To take time off his sentence he participates in an experiment that ends up giving him super-strength and invulnerable skin. He then uses those powers to clear his name and to help other people that have been wronged.

A.K.A. Jessica Jones will debut on Netflix in 2015 after Marvel's Daredevil.
