Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Title Officially Confirmed By James Gunn

James Gunn has confirmed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as the official title to the Guardians of the Galaxy’s sequel.

Gunn made the announcement on his Facebook page earlier today, saying that he could make the official reveal following Kevin Feige’s accidental reveal during Ant-Man interviews. The title seems to be a reference to Guardians of the Galaxy’s soundtrack, Awesome Mix Vol. 1, and the teased Awesome Mix Vol. 2 that appeared at the film’s end.

Gunn, who directed 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, will return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.

This is good news for me. I loved the first one and hope Gunn does a killer job on Vol 2.

  1. GotG had the best music in it that I've heard in nearly thirty years. Hope the trend continues.

At least now Iron Man isn't the only Marvel franchise with numerical sequels. I'll never understand the trend of veering away from that.

  3. Vol. 2 - how DO they come up with such creative titles? Another slow day at The Mouse House of Ideas, I suppose.
