Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is reportedly about to enter talks with Marvel Studios to play a villain in Doctor Strange, according to Variety. Mikkelson has not yet been given an official offer, but one will be presented shortly, according to the report.

Mikkelson was previously up for the role of Malekith in Thor: The Dark World, but turned it down to play the titular role in Hannibal. The role of Malekith eventually went to Christopher Eccleston.

Mikkelson was also recently announced as part of the Rogue One cast.

Which villainous characer MIkkelsen could play remains a mystery. Chiwetel Ejiofor is already slated as Strange's archenemies Baron Mordo, and Stephen Strange doesn't exactly have an expansive and illustrious rogue's gallery. Perhaps the dread Dormammu? Or maybe the devilish Mephisto?

Doctor Strange himself will be played by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, with Tilda Swinton taking on the role of Strange and Mordo's teacher of the mystic arts, the Ancient One. Scott Derrickson will direct.
