Deadpool Director Explains Why It's Ok To Cover Ryan Reynolds Face

A common complaint by comic book fans is that live-action versions of superheroes remove their masks far too often or their headgear is altered in such a way to expose more of their face. This is done to show the emotion of the character better, though, sometimes it seems like studios do this to show the face of the high-priced actor playing the part so they feel like they got their money's worth.

That type of complaint won't happen with 20th Century Fox's Deadpool. Director Tim Miller, who has promised the R-rated film will be the most comic book-accurate movie ever, plans to keep the mask of Deadpool firmly planted on Ryan Reynolds' lovely mug. He can do this because the Merc with a Mouth runs his mouth so often that the audience will know what he's feeling at each given moment.

"If Deadpool were a different type of character, it would be difficult to portray emotion," Miller said on Adi Shankar's The Bootleg Universe Pitch Show. "But Deadpool is running at the mouth the whole time. You almost don't need to see his face because he's telling you how he feels constantly."
