Speaking of early web pages going up for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Fandango got in on the early trigger-pulling game today, also confirming a six-month old rumor. It may have been a bit of a foregone conclusion, but according to this new landing page, there will be a Star Wars marathon offered at select theaters leading up to the first showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

If you sign up for Fandango fan alerts, you can get a text and/or email the moment that tickets for the movie marathon go on sale. The marathon, according to the included (but very small) poster, will show all seven episodic films in theaters, in chronological (according to the story) order: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and finally, The Force Awakens. The poster says, "All seven movies. One epic journey." It also lists December 17 as the date.

The runtime for all seven films should be somewhere in the realm of 15.5 hours (about 13.25 for the first six), not including any breaks between the movies, which raises some questions about start times for the marathon. If you want fans to see the 7pm showing of The Force Awakens, the earliest you can run the film, then you'd conceivably have to start at about 3am, if you account for five half-hour breaks and one hour-long break, similar to what was done for the Avengers marathon. We'll see just when the start times and how long the breaks are when the marathon is officially announced.

Interestingly, the landing page also lists it as "See it in Digital 3D." That may be only for The Force Awakens, though 3D conversions were completed for The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Only the former was ever released, with the latter only being shown at a Star Wars Celebration convention. Perhaps this will be the first chance for general audiences to see the second episode in 3D.

Ticket sales for all opening weekend showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens are expected to open up after a trailer debuts during ESPN's Monday Night Football on October 19, 2015. The MNF presentation is rumored to be themed entirely to Star Wars, including an opening crawl for the Eagles-Giants rivalry.
