First War For The Planet Of The Apes Footage; Contest To Be An Ape In The Film Announced

20th Century Fox has released the first War For the Planet of the Apes behind-the-scenes footage as part of a contest announcement presented by the film's director Matt Reeves and its motion-capture superstar Andy Serkis.

"We're giving one lucky fan the chance to become an ape in Caesar's greatest battle yet," Serkis says in the video that aired during The Walking Dead. "Simply submit a video of your most lifelike ape imitation at APESCONTEST.COM and we'll pick one winner to fly to set, wear a performance-capture suit, and be in a scene."

Reeves co-wrote the War For the Planet of the Apes script with screenwriter Mark Bomback.

The cast includes Andy Serkis, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Gabriel Chavarria, Karin Konoval and Woody Harrelson.

War For the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14, 2017.
