Back in May of last year a reporter asked Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson if he was returning for Fast & Furious 8, and he responded, "Of course. Can't go on without Hobbs." While The Rock's response seemed to indicate her was willing to return, there has been no further confirmation from the studio since then that his character is part of the script for Fast 8.

In Furious 7, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was one of the highlights of the film, but he spent a large part of his time on the sidelines in a hospital bed, before showing up as the cavalry near the end of the film. With The Rock's limited use in Furious 7 and given his busy schedule with other movies, some fans might have had the fear that he could be left our of Fast 8 entirely.

However, now The Rock fans can rest easy, as The Rock has once again and more definitely confirmed that he is returning for Fast & Furious 8. In a post about his training regime on Instagram, The Rock wrote, "Real deal. Our 2016 shooting schedule is a grueling 12months straight of filming (Ballers, Baywatch, Fast & Furious 8 and the big one, Rampage) it requires me putting together a team of professionals from all areas of business who bring their own expertise to the table."

The Rock added, "In the case of training for these roles - I appreciate my strength and conditioning coach Hany Rambod's sharp attention to detail and structuring the balance of hard core training with smart diet and conditioning. My daily 4am wake ups are a hard core bitch, but any success worth you and I working extremely hard for will always be worth having in the end. Especially if you want to be the #1 top dog in your business."

So despite an ongoing TV series and two movies that he's headlining, The Rock is definitely making time to be a part of filming for Fast 8 in 2016.

Fast 8 is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on April 14, 2017. Check out Comicbook.com's movie release schedule for other upcoming movies.
