Infinity Stones Not A Big Part Of Guardians Of Galaxy Vol. 2

Thanos-Guardians

Guardians of the Galaxy was the first Marvel Studios film to really explore the Infinity Stones. Not only did the film showcase a Stones' power but it also dove into the mythology of the Stones.

Fans hoping to see more of the Infinity Stones explored in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be disappointed to hear that they probably won't get their wish.

Guardians director James Gunn recently opened up to fans during a live Facebook Q&A. In addition to confirming Tyler Bates returning to score the sequel, ruling out Avengers cameos, and expressing his desire to have Stan Lee appear in his next cosmic effort, he squashed the hopes of seeing more of the Infinity Stones in Vol. 2.

"We're not really so much about the Infinity Stones in Guardians 2," Gunn says. "Is that a spoiler?"

No, that's not really a spoiler. We'll allow it although we're dying to see how the Stones end up in Thanos' Gauntlet in time for Infinity War.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.

Sounds about right.Huge, successful 1st film to establish itself in MCU, then go back to internal storytelling to delve deeper into the characters.Besides, no Thanos in Vollume 2 (confirmed), and only 2 stones to have their stories told.Maybe Dr.Strange (confirmed), and Ragnarok?

I'm sure Infinity War will open up with a Thanos assault on Nova to take their stone with a quick cut scene to Thanos assaulting the Collector and taking his stone before truly opening up the movie on "Earth - Present Day". We'll see some hijinx but before Thanos enters the Earth stage, we'll check in on him as he fights Loki for the Tesseract. Thor will bring the news to the Avengers of what has happened and that Thanos has 3 stones and will certainly come for Vision and the stone in his head. 1st movie ends when Thanos kills Vision and takes his stone to complete his collection.
