Marvel's Black Panther #1 will sell over 300k copies to retailers, the publisher announced during the Diamond Comics Retailer Breakfast at C2E2 today.

Black Panther #1 will kick off the new series from acclaimed writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze.

"To see Black Panther #1 reach 300,000K in sales is a testament to the vision of the creative team, and the excitement that greeted the announcement of the series," said Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso during the presentation. "When fans see what Ta-Nehisi and Brian have planned for the first -- and best -- Black super hero, it's going to be the buzz book of the industry."

Marvel has already released a preview of the issue, showing T'Challa in his kingdom of Wakanda.

Black Panther is getting set for a big push into the mainstream. Not only will he have a major comics relaunch, but he's set to make his cinematic debut in Captain America: Civil War, to be followed with his on Black Panther solo movie.
