Deadpool is inching ever closer to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time.

It picked up $8M at the North American box office and $6.1M in 33 international markets in its sixth week of release. That now puts its domestic total at $340.9M and its worldwide total at $730M. The Matrix Reloaded's global record for an R-rated film, set in 2003, is within striking distance. Deadpool should surpass that figure relatively soon, but if it stalls for whatever reason, it'll get a jumpstart when it opens in Japan on June 3.

As for the domestic R-rated record, Deadpool currently sits in third-place; however, it is only $10M shy of American Sniper (2014), which grossed $350M total. Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ (2004) is top-dog $370M.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool is now playing at your local theater.
