EDIT: Furtado reached out to clarify that the X-Men: Danger Room Protocols is still cancelled, and that his Instagram account "is a personal account where I post various pieces of original and fan art, including personal and commercial illustration work. The animations I post there are rough, unfinished pieces. They're not finished products. I post them only for educational purposes and to demonstrate my animation skills." X-Men fans may remember X-Men: Danger Room Protocols, a short-lived X-Men animated fan webseries. Creator Joel Furtado created the series as a love letter to '90s Marvel, specifically the X-Men of the era, but the series was shut down by Marvel for copyright infringement shortly after the first episode debuted.

While the series is no longer available on YouTube or Vimeo, Furtado did complete or partially complete some later installments. He's now sharing his work via Instagram, finsihing the first story, that of Jean Grey and Wolverine battling Sentinels and Nimrod, over the course of 11 posts. Here's the first:

He has since moved on to his second story, pitting Cyclops and Storm against Mr. Sinister and Sauron:

We don't know how many more posts worth of work Furtado completed before Marvel shut him down, but diehards are sure to appreciate at further look at the series that could have been.
