James Gunn Shares New Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Scene Thumbnail

"What We Shot Wednesday" is James Gunn's new weekly feature, as the writer/director shares behind-the-scenes looks at the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This week, his thumbnail (he draws out every single scene in the movie in a crude storyboard) is of a scene he says is un-guessable.

"I don't think you'll ever guess what this one is," Gunn writes, "at least not until the film comes out." Of course, he knows his fanbase, who he communicates with regularly, quite well, adding, "but I know that won't stop you from trying."

So, what can we guess from this? Well, the quote, from Star-Lord, says "My mom always said my dad was from the stars," so this has something to do with the reveal of Star-Lord's father. Three people walk toward what looks like some kind of pod, and judging by the lines up and around it, it's surrounded by some kind of energy field (this is entirely supposition, but our best guess). Is Star-Lord's father in that pod? Has it just fallen from the sky somehow, or are they investigating some kind of crash site?

Any way you slice it, it's at least something to do with his dad, a big reveal that Gunn has been very tight-lipped on so far.

Guardians of the Galaxy is filming now in Georgia for a May 5, 2017 release.
