Earlier this week, the Pokemon Company officially announced new details about Pokemon GO, the upcoming "augmented reality" mobile app developed by Niantic Labs. The Japanese Pokemon webpage released similar details about the game yesterday evening, but with a host of new and exciting images. Check out the photo gallery above for a look at all sixteen new screenshots.
The new screenshots show off Pokemon GO's various features, including trainer customization, battling in gyms and using a real world map to find and catch Pokemon. Interestingly, one of the images shows a person "holding" a Magikarp, which is either a clever photo op or a suggestion that Pokemon GO can "interact" with their nearby surroundings. One of the images also shows a player stopping at a PokeStop (in this case Tokyo's Pokemon Center retail store) and collecting high level items like Great Balls and Ultra Balls. Many fans were concerned that stronger Poke Balls would only be available in Pokemon GO via microtransaction.
Pokemon GO is currently being beta tested in Japan, Australia and the United States. An official release date has not been announced.
