The countdown to new Pokemon Sun and Moon information has begun. The Japanese Pokemon Twitter account confirmed that new information would be released on Friday, July 1 at 9 AM EDT. While no additional information was given, the announcement's will likely include the "official" reveals of Iwanko and Nekkoara, which were first shown in the Japanese magazine CoroCoro earlier this month.

The announcement will come at an interesting time, as the Pokemon Company will be hosting several National Championship tournaments the following day. US Nationals will be held in Columbus, OH on July 2nd and 3rd, with the winners of the video game and trading card tournaments receiving cash prizes and the opportunity to compete at the World Championships in San Francisco later this summer.

There's also a possibility we'll see more Pokemon Sun and Moon information this weekend, as Pokemon will have a booth at the World Hobby Fair in Chiba, Japan. The fair is hailed as the largest exhibition for kids in Japan, and Pokemon director Junichi Masuda will have a gameplay demonstration during the show.
