The roster of Pokken Tournament is about to get a little larger. The Pokemon-themed fighting game's Japanese Twitter announced that additional characters would be added to the Japanese arcade edition on July 20th. Three of the four characters (Braixen, Garchomp and Shadow Mewtwo) were previously Wii U exclusive characters. However, the fourth character will be a new character which will be revealed on July 14th.

ComicBook.com previously reported on a recent update to Pokken Tournament that seemed to hint at additional fighters being added to the game soon. Data for Empoleon, Scizor and Darkrai were all found in a deep data dig, although its possible that two of those Pokemon are only "Support Type" Pokemon.

While Pokken Tournament has found a niche audience among hardcore Pokemon fans and fighting game aficionados, one of the game's criticisms has been its relatively small roster size. Right now, there are only 16 playable Pokemon in Pokken Tournament, and two of the 16 characters (Shadow Mewtwo and Pikachu Libre) are variants of other roster members.
