Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 11 Announced

Dark Horse Comics today announced Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 11, continuing the adventures of Buffy Summers begun in the late '90s/early 2000s television series. Dark Horse has been publishing the further adventures of the Slayer since Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 began in 2007, four years after the original television series went off the air in 2003. The Dark Horse Comics publications are official canon in the Buffyverse, continuing the story of the television series, and will continue to be overseen by creator Joss Whedon.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 creative team of writer Christos Gage and artist Rebekah Isaacs will return for Season 11, with Whedon in the "Executive Producer" role. Season 11 will see Buffy Summers and her friends, the "Scooby Gang," continuing to fight the good fight against supernatural threats in San Francisco and, of course, averting the apocalypse.

"Previous apocalypses have been of the world-ending variety, and they've tended to threaten toward the end of a season," Gage tells USA Today. "This one kicks off Season 11, and it's not quite world-ending — more world-changing. It's the way the world changes that will provide new challenges for Buffy and the Scoobies, of a kind they've never faced before."

Gage goes on to promise a mix of fan favorite characters from the original TV show and brand new characters.

"We'll be introducing some new characters, including a Slayer named Morgan — is she ally, or enemy, or both? But old favorites like Harmony will still be popping up here and there," Gage says. "Andrew isn't around much this time, but will show himself to be probably the smartest of the bunch. As Joss described one of his goals for this season: 'Raise the … wait for it … stakes.' We're ramping up the intensity, and we want to really see how it affects these people we care about so much."

Buffy the Vampire Slayers Season 11 will premiere in comic shops and digital comic book apps this fall.
