While Josh Whedon has certainly enjoyed plenty of success following his directorial stint at Marvel, the writer/director hasn't always had projects go over so well. Sadly, one of Whedon's best projects flopped on cable television as his series Firefly was canceled after just one season. However, as time has passed, the show has gained a huge following that's managed to revive the franchise in various ways. And, now, it seems like Dark Horse is ready to revive Whedon's story with an all-new Serenity comic.

Following Firefly's theatrical sequel, Serenity, Dark Horse published its first Firefly-inspired comic with Leaves on the Wind. Now, under the guidance of writer Chris Robertson, Dark Horse has announced its impending publication of Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse.

Discussing the comic with Entertainment Weekly, Robertson has assured readers that, "The characters have been busy [since the last comic]...They're just wrapping up a job when they get a call from an old friend who is in desperate need of their help, and things get complicated pretty quickly."

The writer also teased that River Tam would be playing a major part in the new story. Really, that news isn't all too surprising when you consider the comic's name is taken from one of the character's most famous lines. "River plays a pretty central role in this story, in more ways than one," Robertson confirmed. "She's really come into her own as the pilot of Serenity, for one thing, but now that Zoe's daughter Emma is toddling around on her own by this point, River is always on hand to help look after her as well. But the Alliance is still hunting for River, which is going to continue to put the rest of the crew in the crosshairs."

River, a prodigy who was warped by the Alliance, finds herself at Serenity's helm under Captain Reynold's command. Following the unbelievably tragic death of Wash in Serenity, Summer attempts to cope with the crew's sudden loss while trying outrun the baddies who're still trying to return her to the Alliance.

The first issue of Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse goes on sale October 26th.
