Today, during the Wynonna Earp panel at Comic Con International in San Diego, SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment announced that Syfy has renewed Wynonna Earp for a second season.

"In just one season, Wynonna Earp has struck a chord with the fans," said IDW Entertainment President David Ozer. "We look forward to continuing this epic journey."

"I'm absolutely thrilled we have the opportunity to deliver more of our witty, female-led, kickass, diverse supernatural series to our passionate fan base around the world," said Executive Producer Emily Andras.

"The strong female characters in this series have turned viewers into passionate fans," said SEVEN24 Films' Jordy Randall. "We can't wait to see our amazing cast back in the roles that Emily has crafted for them."

"Wynonna Earp," is based on the IDW comic created by Beau Smith and stars Melanie Scrofano ("Gangland"), Tim Rozon ("Being Human"), Shamier Anderson ("Defiance") and Dominique Provost-Chalkley ("Avengers: Age of Ultron").

"Wynonna Earp" follows the life of the great, great granddaughter (Scrofano) of famous lawman Wyatt Earp. After a troubled adolescence following the death of her father and the disappearance of her older sister Willa, Wynonna has inherited Wyatt's mythic abilities and his famous gun – a Colt .45 pistol with a 12-inch barrel – along with his legendary old West enemies: revenant demons. Now, as a special agent in the Black Badge Division (a top secret sector of the U.S. Marshals), and with the help of younger sister Waverly (Provost-Chalkley), boss Agent Xavier Dolls (Anderson) and notorious gunslinger Doc Holliday (Rozon), Wynonna is determined to find out what really happened to Willa, and put an end to the Earp curse once and for all.

"Wynonna Earp" was produced in Calgary by SEVEN24 Films, and distributed by IDW Entertainment. Emily Andras (Lost Girl, Killjoys) developed the series for television and serves as Executive Producer and showrunner. SEVEN24's Jordy Randall and Tom Cox, IDW's Ted Adams and David Ozer, Banditos Yanquis' Todd Berger, and Circle of Confusion's Rick Jacobs will also serve as Executive Producers.

Season two is set to air on Syfy in 2017.
