Pacific Rim 2 Adds Aftermath Star Levi Meaden To Cast

Aftermath star Levi Meaden is the latest addition to the cast of the Pacific Rim sequel, according to Variety. Meaden is playing a character named Ilya and is described as an "irreverent and offbeat cadet."

The film goes into production this November and will film in Australia and China.

Pacific Rim 2 is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Marvel's Daredevil) and written by Emily Carmichael and Kira Snyder.

Meaden joins a cast that includes John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), who is playing the son of the late Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1000), and Jing Tian (New Police Story).

As for Charlie Hunnam (Green Street Hooligans, Sons of Anarchy), the star of the first film, he revealed back in July that he won't be able to reprise hi Raleigh Becket role because of a scheduling conflict.

The film is being produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and Guillermo del Toro, as well as Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter will serve as the film's executive producer.

Pacific Rim 2 will hit theaters on February 23, 2018.
