Anime fans, we’ve all been there. With so many shows out there to watch, it’s almost impossible to overlook the medium and its slew of harem titles. Whether you are wanting to find a boy or girl of your dreams, fans can find what their favorite anime lead if they look hard enough. Over the years, harem anime titles have exploded in popularity as fans continue to fawn over their favorite fictional ships and live somewhat vicariously through an unsuspecting hero’s life.

However, there are some harem heroes out there who have gotten on the nerves of fans. It may be because they are too handsome; Sometimes it boils down to how easily they can nab a lover. For whatever reason, fans have all but turned their back on some harem opportunities because they cannot abide by the protagonist being fawned over. Rito Yuki of To Love Ru

Rito can’t seem to do many things right. The bumbling high school student is the definition of awkward, but he still ends up seducing a slew of women from around the universe. The harem anime follows Rito as he navigates his way through an massive misunderstanding which made hims bethrothed to an alien princess. Over the show’s run, Rito find himself charming girls like his longtime crush Haruna and other alien suitors who crave his gentle personality.

Kirito of Sword Art Online

There is something about Kirito that drives fans to scrutinize him. While Sword Art Online may be one of the most popular anime’s around, the lead’s chic attitude has put off some. Fans have complained for sometime that Kirito’s relationship with Asuna feels forced, and his continued encounters with out cute RPG ladies leave some fans with a sour expression.

Tenchi Masaki of Tenchi Muyo

While Tenchi doesn’t mean to, his actions can come off a bit too forward. Some may even go so far as to say the boy is too reckless for their tastes. In Tenchi Muyo, fans get to watch the protagonist as he accidentally releases a beautiful space pirate named Ryoko from captivity, totally destroying his school in the process. When Tenchi then learns he is actually part of a royal family, the character’s head swells just a tad, and some fans only grew to dislike Tenchi more as women started to fawn over him.

Kodaka Hasegawa of Haganai

Despite his mismatched hair, Kodaka has a lot going for him when it comes to Hagani. The character gets in a bunch of scrapes at school because of his looks, but the lead is really a laid-back guy who just wants to fit in. Some fans have grown to disdain the character because of predictable flaws and stoic personality. However, when it comes down to it, Kodaka really only cares what his crush Yozora has to say about him.

Raku Ichijo of Nisekoi

Raku may be a nice guy, but he is easy to be jealous of; After all, he does have two beautiful girls out there willing to date him. In Nisekoi, fans watch as the yakuza leader’s son gets roped into a forced dating scheme with Chitoge to make peace with feuding gangs. However, the boy’s heart really rests with his friend Kosaki. Throughout the choice, Raku realizes he has fallen for both girls, but a childhood promise eventually leads him to the women he once promised to marry so many years ago.
