Marvel Comics Holds 70th Anniversary Parties Nationwide

Marvel Comics is celebrating its 70th anniversary by holding special anniversary parties on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at various comic book and book stores. There will be over five hundred comic book shop retailers and select Barnes & Noble stores taking part in the celebration. The celebrations will offer several specials, including an early on sale release of The Marvels Project #1, exclusive limited edition variants, and a remastered version of the very first comic Marvel published, Marvel Comics #1. The Marvel Projects #1 is an all new series detailing the origins of super heroes in the Marvel Universe. Retailer parties are scheduled to begin at 9 PM local time. Also, at 7 PM local time, Barnes & Noble will be hosting five in-store events in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Portland and Seattle. The Barnes & Noble events will include appearances by some of the biggest names in the comic book world, as well as appearances by characters from the Marvel Universe.
