Uh-oh, it's not looking good for Fringe. Since Fringe is one of our favorite TV shows, we were dismayed by comments made by FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly at the Television Critics Association press tour. While Reilly spoke positively of Fringe, he added, "It's an expensive show." Then, he went on to point out that Fringe is losing a lot of money, and that with the shows current ratings on a Friday night, it would be impossible to make money on the show. To spell it all out, Reilly said, "We're not in the business of losing money." Those comments certainly make it sound like Fringe will not be renewed for next season, but Reilly came up just short of putting the final nail in the coffin. Reilly insisted he wasn't soft-canceling the show, and asked fans, "Please don't start the letter-writing campaign right now. I can't take it." Of course, based on Reilly's comments, Fringe fans must start the letter-writing campaign right now if they want any hope of Fringe returning for another season. Except maybe the letter-writing campaign doesn't need to be directed at the network at this point in time, but rather at family, friends, and acquaintances. Fringe Fans should turn to Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ and share with everyone they know what a great show Fringe is. Fringe will be back airing the remaining season 4 episodes starting on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 9 PM ET. If Fringe can finish season 4 showing a big lift in the ratings, then it will definitely increase the chances of the series returning for a fifth season. If the ratings go way up, and FOX still doesn't renew the show, then it will be time to hit them with a letter-writing campaign. But first things first, Fringe fans need to make sure the remaining shows draw in the viewers. Photo Credit: Liane Hentscher/FOX.
