Well-known retailer Jesse James of J.J. Comics in Glendale, Arizona is reportedly soliciting art from local artists to sell at his shop to benefit Aurora Rise, and while the organization's statement doesn't explicitly say as much, it seems to imply there are more in the planning stages.
"We're getting word now that others are planning their own Aurora Rise events around the US and abroad to help us raise money for the families affected by the tragedy in Aurora," the statement reads. "With your help, we can make a difference. On Saturday, August 18, Jesse James (J.J. Comics) is hosting Aurora Rise: Draw and Donate in Glendale, AZ. Jesse has generously offered to assemble some of Arizona's artists to create original pieces and provide a venue for others to donate pieces as well. Jesse plans to make the trip to Aurora on August 25 to help Jason and the Aurora Rise team wherever they may need assistance. Thanks, Jesse! You have no idea how much your gesture means to the Aurora community."
James isn't the only one getting involved with Aurora Rise. Artists, publishers and retailers from all over the country have contributed to the auction, and the cast and crew of CBS's hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory have contributed an autographed poster.
The Aurora Rise Benefit will take place at All C's Collectibles in Aurora, Colorado on August 25 and 26; it will feature live auctions, eBay auctions, in-store appearances by creators and more.
