A new rumor has former Doctor Who star David Tennant as the frontrunner to play Rocket Raccoon in James Gunn's upcoming adaptation of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The rumor, which originated at the Marvel Cinematic Universe Facebook fan page, has quickly taken off across numerous media outlets. ComicBook.com initially hesitated to publish this story, not having much experience with the site in question, but as the rumor began to spread it came to our attention that they have been among the first to break other casting news for this film, as well. Still, as with all of these big casting rumors, take it with a grain of salt. If true, this casting would mark the second actor to play Doctor Who and then transition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Eccleston will play Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World. The film's cast currently includes Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, WWE wrestler Dave Bautista as Drax, Star Trek's Zoe Saldana as Gamora, The Walking Dead's Michael Rooker as Yondu and Pushing Daisies's Lee Pace as an as-yet-unnamed villain.
