AMY ADAMS as Lois Lane in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ action adventure “MAN OF STEEL,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

As part of a discussion on his Facebook page about Man of Steel (That's being charitable: The question posed was whether fans would rather "release the Kraken or the World Engine"), DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio heaped praise on Man of Steel's Amy Adams, saying that in his opinion she outshone previous iterations of the character onscreen. "I thought this was the best interpretation of Lois Lane in any film or series," DiDio told a fan who asked what he thought of Adams' performance. Of course, Lois has generated a lot of discussion this week after early screenings of Man of Steel drew some criticism that she wasn't depicted well enough. Critics have been split on this point (although most have been generally positive and almost everyone has praised Adams's performance, chalking up any problems they had to the script), including comics writer Adam P. Knave, who wrote the following for ComicBook.com: "All of which translates directly into the way the Lois and Clark relationship comes together. That relationship as well as the Metropolis life of Clark is wildly new and exciting. It makes Lois no-longer the award-winning journalist who is fooled for forty years by glasses while standing next to both Clark and Superman. Instead it grounds their relationship in the secret and makes perfect sense. She gets to become, again, his idol and what he wants to be. It strengthens her character beautifully." He did acknowledge, though, "Turning back to Lois for a moment, she  starts as a great character, pushing for things, and does spend the end of the film going "How do I start a car?" Granting it's a Kryptonian hoopty, but even so. Just fell flat for me given the good work they did with her otherwise."
