Captain America: The Winter Soldier Wins Box Office For Second Straight Weekend

Despite most forecasts predicting that Rio 2 would win this weekend at the box office, Captain America: The Winter Soldier pulled off the surprise upset in its second weekend of release. Rio 2 came out on top on Friday by a very narrow margin, but Captain America: The Winter Soldier roared back on Saturday and Sunday. Based on Sunday morning projections, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will win the weekend box office in the U.S. with $41.3 million. Rio 2 will take second place with $39 million at the U.S. box office. Oculus took third place with $12 million, while Draft Day finished fourth with $9.75 million. Captain America: The Winter Soldier with $159 million total at the U.S.  box office is now in second place for all of 2014 so far at the U.S. box office.
