Though we have yet to see it on screen – and likely won’t – Hugh Jackman told Yahoo that he has put on Wolverine’s classic blue and yellow costume.
When asked if he would like to wear the original Wolverine costume, Jackman replied (at about the 13:53 mark in the video below), “I have…I mean, on film, no, but at home?”
The idea of putting Wolverine’s most well-known costume on screen was joked about in the first X-Men, when Wolverine criticized the costumes the X-Men were wearing and Cyclops asked, sarcastically, if he would prefer “yellow spandex.”
Jackman joked that he has put on the costume at the request of his wife.
“It works really well,” Jackman said. “It’s been 18 years, I’ve got to romance her in a very kinky way.”
Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Fans have noted a hint of the classic blue and yellow Wolverine costume in the coloring of Wolverine’s outfit from the apocalyptic future of the film.
In X-Men: Days of Future Past, the X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.
X-Men: Days of Future Past arrives in theaters May 23.
