Calling Monday's Supergirl finale emotional, series star Melissa Benoist told ComicBook.com yesterday that she wanted to apologize in advance to the audience about to watch.
This is at least the second big tease from people close to the production that there might be some bad stuff coming for Team Supergirl; last week, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that the episode had multiple "get-your-Kleenex moments."
"I think it's a huge finale, and there's a lot going on, and I think people will go on an emotional roller coaster with Kara, so I'm sorry to all the fans in advance," Benoist told ComicBook.com yesterday at The CW upfronts.
And she said that even after a season that has featured Dean Cain, Terry Hatcher, multiple hat tips to the Legion of Super-Heroes, and a full-on Daxamite invasion, she's certain that season three will only get bigger.
"Every time I get a script, I'm like, 'There's no way we're going to top what we just did.' And then I read the new script and I'm like, 'how are we going to do this?' And somehow we do," Benoist said. "So I think we'll only just keep getting bigger and bigger. The scope of this world is so massive that we can't go back."
A high point of the finale? Why, Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant, of course.
"I missed her so much! Having her back felt really good," Benoist said of the season 1 regular, who has only appeared in four season 2 episodes.. "She elevates the show in a way no one else can."
Supergirl airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
