The Nintendo Switch has a great array of first and third party titles to choose from this holiday season, whether you're in the mood for a magical adventure like Super Mario Odyssey, or letting loose with carnage in Bethesda's faithful port of Doom.

But Rainway is looking to add a major new feature to the system, one that could add a potentially big list of titles to it in terms of PC emulation.

The company has introduced a new video streaming app that allows games to be "beamed" from your PC to a number of other devices, and it's been working hard to make the Nintendo Switch one of those devices. And it looks like it's making some real headway when it comes to progress, as Nintendo actually seems pretty keen on the idea.

Rainway recently confirmed that it's still in discussion with Nintendo on making the app compatible with the Nintendo Switch, and that things are "working out well" at the moment. The team also appears to be testing out the system in the earlygoing, with different PC games, and it's getting positive results.

Granted, that doesn't mean every PC experience will translate well to the handheld, as more complex stuff like League of Legends probably wouldn't work without some configuration. That said, though, if Rainway could find a way for us to stream stuff like Overwatch and Shadow Warrior 2 to the system without breaking a sweat, it would be really something.

Again, Nintendo hasn't given the official go-ahead yet, and discussions are still underway, so don't get too excited. But if this partnership comes through, the Nintendo Switch might get a huge new advantage over the competition.

Here's the quick lowdown on the Rainway app straight from the company, in case you need a reminder of what it does:

"Rainway is an upcoming program that allows you to play your favorite PC games on nearly any device. Some of our newly developed software techniques allow games to be transmitted from your computer to another device in super-high quality, and with practically no lag.

Rainway's signature feature is that it's available on any device with a web browser. You'll simply visit play.rainway.io, log in, and kick back with your favorite games. Native apps for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and other platforms are being developed to provide an even more seamless experience.

While the technology to watch PC games live has been around for a few years now, Rainway while using very few system resources allows you to completely play your games from the comfort of anywhere, anytime, on anything.

The best part is that practically any modern PC is compatible. You don't need to purchase any additional computer hardware and did we mention that it's free? That's right, no more 50 dollar boxes or subscription fees, the Rainway experience will be available free of charge for life."
