One of the bigger trends in Hollywood over the last few years is that, when there's an epic film that culminates a franchise, you split it into two parts. Whether it be Avengers: Infinity War, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, fans have become accustomed to only seeing the first half of a highly anticipated film, knowing they'll only see half of the story in one sitting. The same will be true of the upcoming theatrical adaptation of It, based on the Stephen King novel, but it looks like the film's sequel will start shooting on March 17, six months before the first film will be released.

Rather than wait and see how successful the film is before starting shooting, it bodes well that the film's sequel is already going into production. Other franchises that have split installments into multiple parts have typically filmed both films at the same time, and while this isn't quite that fast, it is still a quick turnaround to get everything together.
The first film will be in theaters September 8.
