The Walking Dead came back in a major way with a shocking season 7 premiere, and it's an event that's still reverberating through the cultural consciousness. After the fans and cast members have all had their say, we're now getting word from the producers and showrunners who made the drama happen.

Super-producer Gale Anne Hurd is the latest making the rounds and talking Dead, and when talking to Entertainment Tonight, she let it be known that for fan-favorite character Daryl (Norman Reedus), the events of the premiere are going to be no less than life-changing.

Naturally, if you haven't yet seen The Walking Dead season 7 premiere... then you've probably already had the biggest event in pop-culture all season spoiled for you.

Talking to ETonline, Hurd said that for Daryl, the event of Glenn's death will be something that changes his character, noting that, "The show is all about the choices that we make and the fans either relating to those choices, being horrified by them or understanding them."

She added that fans angry at Daryl for causing Glenn's death should relax, "These characters can't read the future. They've never come across anyone like Negan before...They have to learn who Negan is and Negan shows them."

Worse than the actual brain-bashing violence of the season 7 premiere was the psychological torture that Negan inflicted upon Rick. Lord only knows what Hurd could mean when she says "Negan shows them." We have a feeling it could mean things get even more mind-f***d for Rick and our favorite survivor crew.

The Walking Dead airs the second episode of season 7 this Sunday @9/8c on AMC.
