Last week, Vin Diesel grabbed some headlines when he declared to Variey that Furious 7 would "win Best Picture at the Oscars." Some people thought he might be joking, but he told Access Hollywood he is "dead serious!"

"I think this is a movie that makes people cry, makes people laugh and the emotional thrust of this movie is not like anything else," Diesel explained why Furious 7 shouldn't be overlooked for the Academy Awards' highest honor. "Something that the Oscars never take into consideration is the ability to make an audience cheer… you never cheer in the theater, so to compound the laughing, the crying, the emotions… sooner or later you have to acknowledge the feat, the miracle that it is to pull off a movie like this."

When Tyrese Gibson was asked to comment on Diesel's bold prediction. "It says a lot about his passion for the franchise, what we've been through in order for us to get here and I'm in support of that passion," Gibson said.

Continuing the global exploits in the unstoppable franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. The film was written by Chris Morgan.

Furious 7 races into theaters April 3, 2015.
