Captain America: Civil War Sets Up Black Panther In Huge Ways

Fans were finally introduced to the King of Wakanda himself the Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War and that introduction will play a large part in the character's storyline going forward.

ComicBook.com's Jim Viscardi recently sat down with Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman and asked if anything specifically regarding his character in Civil War will be paid off in future Black Panther installments, or if his actions here are fairly self-contained.

"No, it's not. We were all individually thinking about ... When you get the role and go through the mythology, they're certain things you want to preserve. You don't want to give away certain things that you want to make sure happen, so you don't want to do to much of this, to much of that, you want to make sure you concentrate.

I think that's why they made his arc so complete, so that it is contained. You have to, in doing that, make sure you leave room for a lot of things that you want to happen. I can't say what they are but that was thought out by me, thought out by the producers, the directors, I'm sure Stan Lee had something to say about it, Ryan Coogler had something to say about it. We argued, made up, and all that. That's definitely part of the process."

For those that stuck around after the credits, you know that the fugitive Avengers, which consist of Captain America, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Winter Solider, and Ant-Man, are taking refuge in Wakanda. Boseman was asked if he or Director Ryan Coogler had any input on that scene.

"I would say, yeah. Everybody had a say in it including Ryan."

That scene could translate into at least a small appearances by Cap and his fugitive group at some point during the Black Panther solo film, but the focus is squarely on T'Challa and his kingdom.

Captain America: Civil War is out now on Blu-ray, and DVD and Black Panther releases into theaters on July 6th, 2018.
