Zack Snyder unleashed yet another look for Ben Affleck’s Batman in their upcoming Justice League project, and fittingly the new image created quite the spirited debate.
Whichever side of the fence you fall on in regards to the new suit itself, it’s still exciting to see yet another take on the iconic costume. Over Batman’s long history, the protector of Gotham City has had a number of visual overhauls, both practical and completely impractical.

We figured it was time to put a list together of the top 5 costumes we’d like to see on film, and our list certainly has a blend of both.
Glacier Shield Batman (Legends of the Dark Knight)
As fans of Batman action figure lines are keenly aware of, they typically feature one or two other characters and then see the rest of the wave filled with obnoxious variants of Batman himself.
The thing is, every so often the designers knock one out of the park, and they certainly did that with their Legends of the Dark Knight figure Glacier Shield Batman.
Sure its impracicalย to run around with giant shoulder pads made of ice, and that cape will pretty much alert anyone within a 10 mile radius that you’re coming, but man does it look amazing.
Plus he has those ice bladed baton things, and Zack Snyder would just eat those up.
Pilgrim Batman (The Return Of Bruce Wayne)
During Bruce Wayne’s trek through history to get back to the present (thanks to Darkseid), ย Batman took on many different forms, and while some of the other versions were much more entertaining, there is still something about his time as a Pilgrim that just begs to be referenced in a film down the line.
In The Return of Bruce Wayne, Bruce assumed the guise of Mordecai, who joins a clan of witch hunters.
If the idea of aย witch hunter Batman doesn’t already delight you, then his costume, which features big bulky gloves, Bat-Buckles galore, and a Pilgrims hat should convince you that the silver screen is calling out for it to be displayed.
Batclaw (Amalgam)
When DC and Marvel did the impossible and merged their two universes, two of their most popular characters merged into one being, and for awhile Batman and Wolverine became a singular hero known as Bat Claw.
The character kept the darkened colors of Batman with a few pops of yellow from Logan’s classic suit. His first line of defense, however, was Logan’s claws, but he did have the normal array of gadgets that Bruce has become known for.
While the universe would eventually revert the two back into their respective identities, the costume was quite slick looking, and seeing that on film would certainly be entertaining.
Cowboy Batman (Square Enix Play Arts Kai)
ย Batman doesn’t tend to like the use of guns, but that hasn’t stopped creators and designers from having some fun with the premise of Batman as a gunslinger, and this action figure from Play Arts is one of the best renditions of the idea we’ve seen.
The swooping cape that almost acts as a poincho over his right shoulder, the litany of belts and buckles, and the trademark cowboy hat are all fantastic, but it’s really the reddish brown and blackcolor scheme that makes this version stand out. Since the film universe is open to the idea of mulitiple dimensions or timelines (as seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), having this version of the suit show up at some point would just be too good an idea to pass up.
Silver Knight Batman (Legends of the Dark Knight)
For our last costume, throw any ideas of stealth out the window. In this case, durability and making an entrance areย the key benefits.
Based on the Legends of the Dark Knight action figure, Silver Knight Batman is basically decked out in shimmering silver armor and comes with a stylish and equally impractical sword. While enemies from 10 states away can see him coming, good luck hurting him, as the armor is something akin to what a regal knight would wear. and with Batman’s vast technology in the present, he would
The piece de resistance of this getup is that matte black shield he comes with, which in the name of synergy also comes with its own Bat symbol,ย you know, in case it gets lost. You can just imagine him leading a charge of hundreds of Bat-Knights in this costume, and that demands an appearance on the big screen.
