While The CW’s DC Universe crosses over pretty frequently, the first big crossover between two superhero TV shows actually came decades ago, when Adam West’s Batman teamed up with the Green Hornet.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be any surprise, then, that Batman ’66, the series of comics that have carried on the legacy and continuity of the West series, will finally fulfill a decades-old fanboy dream when that version of the Caped Crusader teams up with Wonder Woman in January.

Batman ’66 Meets Wonder Woman ’77 will be written by Batman ’66 writer Jeff Parker and Wonder Woman ’77 writer Marc Andreyko, who is also currently working on DC’s The Death of Hawkman and spearheaded the charity comic Love is Love, which will benefit victims of this summer’s Orlando nightclub shooting.

Announced at the Wonder Woman 75th anniversary panel at New York Comic Con, the 12-chapter series will launch digitally November 23, releasing new chapters every other week, and will feature art from popular artists David Hahn and Karl Kesel and cover art by Michael Allred.

“Readers have asked for this team-up since the Batman ’66 comic began and I’m thrilled we’re able to finally make it happen,” said Parker. “Most of the credit goes to Marc Andreyko. He found me at a show and within minutes had me fired up about the story possibilities. It really feels like Lynda Carter and Adam West going into action again, this time together.”

Fans have long wondered when and if Batman ’66 might meet up with some of the other heroes of DC’s early television efforts. A Batman ’66/The Green Hornet miniseries set up a sequel to their famous TV adventure, and there were a couple of brief cameos of Daily Planet reporters in the final monthly issue of the stand-alone Batman ’66 comic, but this is the first time there’s been an official crossover event with one of DC’s other TV heroes.

Andreyko revealed to ComicBook.com during an interview at New York Comic Con that the first act of the story will take place in 1944, like

Of course, it comes at an opportune moment. This weekend at New York Comic Con, the animated movie Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will debut, starring West and his Robin, Burt Ward, alongside Julie Newmar, iZombie‘s Steven Weber and a talented voice cast.

Meanwhile, Lynda Carter — who played Wonder Woman on the TV series — will appear in a late October episode of Supergirl in the role of the President of the United States.
