The BBC has released an official first look at the 2016 Doctor Who Christmas Special.

The episode will be titled “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” and will feature a superhero played by Canadian actor Justin Chatwin. You can get a first look at Chatwin’s superhero costume in the tweet from BBC America below.

The title of the episode is interesting because Doctor Who is marketed as Doctor Misterio in Spanish speaking countries. Whether that’s relevant to the plot or just a simple Easter egg remains to be seen.

The first look video was revealed at New York Comic Con’s BBC America takeover of Madison Square Garden. During a panel, Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat noted that Superman was an influence on this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Doctor Who took the better part of 2016 off, though it did introduce Pearl Mackie as the Doctor’s new companion, Bill. The Doctor Who Christmas Special will be the first new episode of Doctor Who to air since the Doctor Who Seson 9 finale in December 2015.

In addition to Justin Chatwin’s superhero, 2016’s Doctor Who Christmas Special will also see the return of Matt Lucas, who played Nardole in the 2015 Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Husbands of River Song.”

Doctor Who will return with a full tenth season, the last for showrunner Steven Moffat, in 2017.

The 2016 Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” will air on Christmas Day, Dec. 2015, on the BBC in the United Kingdom and on BBC America in the United States.
