In the Dragon Ball franchise, there are dozens of terrifying villains who you would hate to meet in a dark alley or abandoned planet. From Majin Boo to Broly, the baddies of Dragon Ball are known for their insane strength, nefarious plots, and outstandingly awful tempers.
However, the series also features plenty of noble fighters who are ready to take down these villains at a moment’s notice. Heroes like Son Goku use their Super Saiyan states to beat their extraterrestrial nemeses to a bloody pulp. So, you might be wondering how these villains can stand up to the franchise’s heroes.

It’s simple: They have some freaking amazing transformations.
Here at ComicBook.com, we’ve rounded up eight of the best villainous transformations from the Dragon Ball franchise that will leave you shaking from both anticipation and fear. If you want to see some other great transformations from the franchise, then you can check out our slideshow of epic forms here.
Kid Majin Boo
Let’s start with Kid Boo. If you’re a Dragon Ball fan inย the slightest, then you will likely recognize this character. The villain is one of the most popular in the canon, and there’s good reason for it. Boo has appeared in numerous story arcs over time in the Dragon Ball Universe, but many fans find that the best sagas are those which feature Kid Boo.
The transformation acts as the most ‘pure form’ of Boo. In this state, the villain is erratic at best and very dangerous at the least. For instance, when audiences see Kid Boo for the first time, the villain automatically decides he wants to annihilate the Earth – and he comesย very close to doing just that. Even the Z Fighters had to admit the fearsome villain was one they almost conceded to.
Final Cell
The character Cell is something from your worst nightmares. The futuristic creature was created to possess all the best traits from his timeline’s fighters, leading him to become one of the universe’s best warriors of all time. Assembled by Dr. Gero, Cell was introduced to fans as a mere larvae that could do little damage. But, by the time Cell reaches his final transformation, the villain is a force to be reckoned with.
The humanoid transformation only occurs after Cell devours living androids, sucking the figures dry of their powers. After having absorbed Android 17, Cell reaches his ‘Perfect Form’ that gives him a asexual reproductive powers, an impenetrable exoskeleton, and dangerously destruction auras.ย
Final Freiza
While Frieza might not look like it, he is one of the most powerful villains in all of Dragon Ball history. The alien emperor is greatly feared for his ruthless reign and monstrous behavior – and that was all before fans were introduced to his final form.
Frieza’s final form is actually his original state, a fact that he confirms with Goku during a battle. The ultimate transformation strips the character of all his ornate detailing and brings him to back toย deadly base instincts. Frieza forgoes his battle armor and bulging muscles to instead take on a lithe, exposed body that’s impossibly fast and lethal.ย
Super Janemba
If you haven’t heard of Janemba before, don’t worry. You will only have seen him if you’ve watched Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn or had the world’s worst nightmare.
There are few characters in Dragon Ball who are as nasty as this demonic alien. The creature embodies pure evil and corruptย power, prompting him to develop a serious god complex that threatens the universe. The film literally describes Janemba as the living definition of evil, and it is remarkably apt. The villain is terrifying from the get-go, but his Super Janemba transformation sticks out to fans even today. The final look notably borrowed aesthetics from Frieza’s last transformation, but its use of pink and red hues made the monster’s skin look all the more gory.ย
Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black
In Dragon Ball Super, fans meet a character named Goku Black. The villain obviously looks familiar as he took on the physical appearance of Son Goku after they clashed with one another, but the former did notย retain the hero’s nobility by any means. Fans have learned that Goku Black is just as powerful as his predecessor, so some wondered whether the villain could also enter the Super Saiyan God SS state.
The answer to that isย yes.
Goku Black entered the state of Super Saiyan Rose. The formย is equal to that of Super Saiyan God SS or SS Blue, so it is incredibly powerful in battle. The Super Saiyan Rose state gifts Black Goku light pink hair, bright white eyes, and the ability to absolutely pummel Vegeta into the ground.

Legendary Super Saiyan Broly
There are certainly legendary Super Saiyans in the Dragon Ball franchise, but only one can enter the Legendary Super Saiyan State: Broly. So, naturally, the overpowered character decides Goku is his trueย sworn enemy – even if they only fought once.
Broly acts as the main antagonist in films like Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan and more. But, in each film, fans see him go head-to-head with Goku in several epic showdowns. The battles are unsurprisingly intense, and they only become more so when Broly enters the fabled Legendary Super Saiyan State.
The Legendary Super Saiayn transformation is considered a myth until Broly enters the state. The powerful Saiyan was fabled to undergo the transformation, and it made fans do a double-take. Just look at the character’s bulging muscles!
Final Cooler
When fans met Cooler, they knew they should be afraid. After all, the creature was the older brother of Frieza and looked appropriately terrifying. However, there are notable differences between Cooler and his brother such as there temperament and intelligence.
But, when it comes to powerful, they’re both on a whole other level. The brothers share a similar final form that streamlines their designs. However, Cooler’s is more muscular and finds himself gifted with some intense headgear as well. When he fights with Goku in this state duringย Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge, even the Z Fighter has to admit that Cooler has surpassed the strength of Frieza. Yikes!

Super Saiyan Vegeta
Oh, Vegeta. We couldn’t forget you. While recent Dragon Ball series depict Vegeta as a true anti-hero, the show originally pegged him as a villain. Fans were introduced to the greedy, power-hungry Saiyan at the series start and expanded on the character greatly in Dragon Ball Z.
As a Saiyan, Vegeta has many forms and shares several with Goku. He can take on various Super Saiyan states and even go Super Saiyan God SS if he so pleases. However, many fans still look back to the villain’s first Super Saiyan transformation as his greatest as it marked a major milestone in the character’s quest to put Goku in his ‘rightful’ place. Poor Android 19, you didn’t even stand a chance.ย
