Westworld Looking Good For A Second Season

With Westworld quickly becoming the next tentpole series for HBO, fans are wondering if the sci-fi hit series will get multiple seasons.

There are clearly plenty of compelling storylines and ideas coming from current showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, who have already teased exploring Roman World and Medievil World from the original 1973 Michael Crichton film.

In a recent interview with Variety, Casey Bloys, HBO's president of programming, gave us some good news concerning Westworld Season 2:

"I want to get a very complete picture of the ratings, which seem to be doing very well, so we're happy with that. [The executive producers are] going to talk to us about what they envision a second season being. But right now I would say it's looking really good. We're very pleased with how it's doing."

After being asked about the violence on the series and if it would continue to be a feature in Westworld Season 2, Bloys responded with:

"After I hear the second-season pitch, I will tell you. But I know it's something that [executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy] are mindful of. You brought it up, and I think rightly so. I think it's fair to say that it's a question where, if it continues, it will hopefully have some context to it."

Well this certainly sounds hopeful, right? With excellent ratings, reviews, and the biggest series premiere debut since True Detective, Westworld should have a bright future with many seasons ahead!

The one-hour drama series Westworldis a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
