The amazonian warrior Wonder Woman is finally getting her due on the big screen, but the Diana seen here won't immediately be the hero fans know and love. That maturity into the hero fans know her to be will take place throughout, but there is one key scene that flips the switch so to speak.
In one particular sequence about midway through the film, Diana (played by Gal Gadot) is told she cannot cross the lonely battlefield between the English and German forces. It is here she puts her safety aside to save the women and children that are being threatened by the Germans, and you can see the moment represented in the concept art featured in the gallery. "It's a very powerful moment," Gadot tells EW. "We have a character committing to her true self, doing what she believes needs to be done."
Director Patty Jenkins identifies this moment as the iconic turning of the character, akin to when Superman rips off his dress shirt to reveal his symbol. "It's when she says, 'Enough is enough." DC's Geoff Johns thinks that is an apt description, saying "[This scene] reminds me of when Superman caught Lois and caught the helicopter [in the 1978 movie]," he says. "But this one is even more visceral."
We've seen the scene for ourselves and can tell you: it's indeed pretty epic, in a way DC Comics fasn will appreciate. But for those skeptical: you will be able to judge for yourself very soon.
