Viewers of Game 4 in the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors were subject to two wonderful instances: the amazing performances by Kyrie Irving and LebBon James, and the first teaser trailer for the Black Panther movie.
That trailer was so awesome that even DC Comics president Geoff Johns was left impressed by the King of Wakanda's first solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
This looks unreal. Panther was one of my favorite characters to write when I was @Marvel @chadwickboseman https://t.co/pxgrTPeNxU

Johns has been working exclusively for DC Comics for going on a decade; he was promoted to Chief Creative Officer in 2010 and then president of DC Entertainment in 2016. But he also spent some time writing for Marvel Comics including an acclaimed run on the Avengers.
In the storyarc "Red Zone," Johns collaborated with with Oliver Coipel in a plot that saw Black Panther butting heads with Iron Man. The two set aside their differences and Panther becomes an integral member of the Avengers extended roster.
Johns might have had a limited run on the character, but it was memorable all the same.

It's nice to see the Distinguished Competition give kudos to their rivals, especially after so many at Marvel praised the Wonder Woman movie.
Johns is hard at work on a return to comics with Doomsday Clock alongside Gary Frank, bringing characters from the Watchmen into conflict with Superman and other DC superheroes. Given his prominent status with Warner Bros., it's unlikely that we'll ever see him work on Marvel properties ever again. But at least we have that small offering to look back on.
Black Panther hits theaters February 16, 2018.
