The CW recently cast a new actor to play Kara Danvers on their superhero hit Supergirl. Don’t worry, Melissa Benoist isn’t going anywhere; they found an actor to play the young Kara in a flashback.

Izabela Vidovic will be portraying the character, according to a new report from EW. Vidovic will be replacing Malina Weissman, who now has a starring role on A Series Of Unfortunate Events on Netflix.

The actor will appear in the sixth episode of Season Three, which will feature many flashbacks of Alex and Kara’s youth. Jordan Mazarati is likely returning to play young Alex again.

The episode, called “Midvale,” will show Alex and Kara on a road trip to the home where they grew up, showing flashbacks of the girls embroiled in a murder mystery during their high school years.

Supergirl actor Benoist said fans will learn how the sisters developed such a tight bond in the episode.

“You’ll get to see, through the way they interact, how their relationship started when Kara first came to Earth, how it grew, how it became so close and why they’re so close nowadays,” Benoist said.

While heroics and action are two major staples of the series, fans of Supergirl also gravitate to the show’s portrayal of sisterhood. Alex and Kara’s friendship is one its most popular aspects. Well, that and shipping.

Chyler Leigh and Benoist have great chemistry together, so seeing the two embarking on an adventure with homicidal implications should make for good TV. Hopefully Vidovic and Mazarati have a similar bond on the screen.

Kara arrived on Earth much like her cousin Kal El, though she was already a teenager when she came from the doomed planet of Krypton. The Danvers took her in and raised her as a part of the family, but her relationship with Alex had to grow.

We’ll see more of that in the upcoming season.

Supergirl returns to The CW Monday, October 9 at 10pm ET.
