Constantine's Matt Ryan Has A Message For Fans Ahead of This Week's Arrow

11/02/2015 03:31 pm EST

This week, Matt Ryan will reprise his role as John Constantine on a hugely-anticipated episode of The CW's Arrow.

During Constantine's thirteen-episode run, the possibility that the character might tie into the world of Arrow and The Flash was often raised -- although producers for any of the shows stopped short of confirming or denying that the shows shared a universe.

It wasn't until after NBC passed on giving Constantine a second season that The CW became involved -- first as a potential home for more Constantine and then, when that didn't happen, by inviting Ryan to bring the character to Arrow.

Meanwhile, fans -- mostly calling themselves "Hellblazers" on social media -- have not lost faith that they could still see more of Ryan's Constantine, either on The CW shows or as a standalone series of his own again. While showrunners, the press and others have seemingly lost faith, the Hellblazers have continued to campaign online -- with a renewed enthusiasm and sense of purpose this week, since they see Arrow as the best chance to prove to The CW (and whoever else might be paying attention) that there's a market for this character.

During an interview with ComicBook.com this morning, the full text of which will be online soon, we asked Ryan to share his thoughts on those superfans, many of whom have now followed him to Broadway, where he's performing in Therese Raquin alongside Pirates of the Caribbean star Kiera Knightley.

Here's what he had to say:

You can follow along with the exploits of the #Hellblazers on Twitter, where they're very active this week with the #ConstantineOnArrow hashtag.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
