If you don’t know the name Masako Nozawa, then you probably know her voice. The actress is one of Japan’s most prolific voice actors as she began her career back in the 1950s. These days, fans will know her best thanks to her work on Dragon Ball as Nozawa plays a slew of heroes. From Goku to Goten, the lady has been working with Saiyans since 1986. Now, the actress has been gifted a Guinness World Record for her on-going work, and Nozawa has admitted she even has trouble keeping her numerous characters straight these days.

As reported by Anime Now, Nozawa spoke to press at her award ceremony earlier in the week, and it was there that she confessed her hilarious mix-up.

“I’m fighting alone, after all! Goku and [Goku] Black appear to fight, don’t they? So despite there being plenty of people in the recording studio, I’m fighting alone, going ‘Wah!’ and ‘Bah!’ and all that,” Nozawa explained, nodding to her recent voice work as Goku and Goku Black on Dragon Ball Super.

“The images are so moving so fast, so all I can see are these lines flying across the screen. And when that happens, I can’t tell who’s flying around! So I have to ask: ‘Who’s the character who just went from here to here? Is it Goku? Or [Goku] Black? I have to ask. They move so fast! Zam, zoom, zoom! They’re fighting, and I have to express that with my voice.”

The actress then continued, saying, “It feels like I’m living as one with Goku at this point. I really think I am Goku. After all, once I’m in the recording studio, I’m Goku.”

The aging actress was asked how she continues to keep up enough energy to voice the demanding character. After all, Goku is known for his intense yelling and frequent battle cries. “My secret for good health is to live without a care in the world,” she explained. “Actually, I’ve never mulled over anything in my life. I live my life with the thought that everything will end up fine in the end as long as I’m alive.”

And, when it comes to the upcoming Dragon Ball Super arc, Nozawa says she is not sure what the exciting saga will have in store for Goku. However, she is very much looking forward to it.

“If I ended up taking a peek, I think I would start preparing for what is to come. I don’t want that. I want to be in the recording booth with the same feelings as Goku,” she gushed, “So yes, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m looking forward to it! Very much so.”
