Dragon Ball Super Remake Confirms Release Date for Next Major Update

Dragon Ball Super is gearing up for its next major update for its new remake anime coming later this Fall, but only some lucky fans will be able to check it out. Dragon Ball Super is on the cusp of a major comeback as not only is the artist behind the manga offering up new pieces to keep the franchise alive, but the anime franchise is coming back with the first of a new wave of releases later this year. And it’s going to offer an enhanced version of the original TV series.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is an enhanced version of the original Dragon Ball Super TV series, and will be offering a new take on the Battle of Gods arc. Currently scheduled for a release later this Fall, there are all sorts of other updates that fans are still hoping to get before its release. It seems that next update is coming soon as the anime has announced it will be hosting a special panel at New York Comic Con 2026 this October. Which will hopefully lead to its premiere.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is currently scheduled to make its debut sometime this Fall, but has yet to confirm a release date for its launch as of this time. “Fall” usually means a release in October to air alongside a slate of new releases for the Fall 2026 anime schedule, but that’s not always the case. If there are fewer episodes than a usual cour, then the anime could kick off its run later in the year. That might be the case with this one considering it’s only been confirmed to cover the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F arcs.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus has yet to confirm how many episodes this remake is going to run for, and the anime might have a new time slot altogether. There have been other new anime releases confirmed for the time slots that Dragon Ball Daima had when it aired, and when Dragon Ball Super first ran on TV, so there could be another shake up when it comes to this release. But this panel will likely reveal exactly when the anime will finally premiere. It’s kind of the final big opportunity to do so before the end of the year.

What’s Next for Dragon Ball Super?

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is coming out later this Fall, and this NYCC 2026 panel is going to be the final major time that the franchise could update fans. There will be a chance later in year with Jump Festa 2027 scheduled for later this December, but by then hopefully we’ve already seen the remake in action. Anyway, there’s much more to look ahead to with Dragon Ball Super’s future as there’s a brand new anime now in the works as well to take its story further through the manga and potentially beyond.

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is now in the works, but the anime has yet to confirm a potential release as of the time of this writing. It’s been teased that it might be coming our way 2027 or later, and is going to be adapting the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. This is an arc currently exclusive to the manga at this time, so it’s an exciting step forward for the franchise on a whole.
