“Crucible,” Wednesday’s episode of Arrow, suffered against the deciding game of the World Series, which drew over 18 million viewers, and took in just under 2.5 million eyeballs, making a season low for The CW’s superhero drama based on DC Comics’s Green Arrow. The episode took in 2.37 million total viewers and an 0.8/2 in the 18-49 demographic on Wednesday night (not accounting for the DVR+3 or +7 ratings, obviously), and both Arrow and its follow-up, the Robbie Amell-starring Tomorrow People–were down from the lofty numbers they’ve seen so far this season (Arrow recently cleared 3 million viewers, a benchmark number for a CW series, especially in a non-event episode).Whether the show will bounce back with the World Series decided and TV lineups returning mostly to normal in the next few weeks or not is the key question; Warner Bros. TV and The CW would undoubtedly love to see the first appearance of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen–set to air later this month or early next–top 3 million as well.Of course, even at its lowest, it remains one of the top-rated series on The CW.
