Deadpool is also on track to become the highest-grossing R-rated title in history globally, passing The Passion of the Christ ($370 million domestic/ $611.9 million global). After ten days of release, Deadpool has grossed $235.39 million at the domestic box office and $256.5 million at international box office for a global total of $491.89 million.

It’s already passed the lifetime domestic gross for last year’s franchise-launching mega-hit Fifty Shades of Grey, which held the record for President’s Day opening weekend, February opening weekend, and R-rated opening weekend until Deadpool bested them all last week. And Deadpool is, after ten days in release, #6 on the top ten highest-grossing R-rated movies ever.

Ahead of it on the list are The Passion of the Christ, American Sniper, The Matrix Reloaded, and the first two movies in The Hangover franchise.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
